6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
This Bible verse is sewn into a parent's heart. Intrinsicly, believers know the truth in the verse. This is why, as parents, we do what we do. We make the extra effort and get our families to Mass each week -- regardless of sports schedules & sleepovers -- we talk to our kids about talking to God, about forgiveness, and about doing the right thing and we try to live by the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule. These are not futile attempts --- we are building solid foundations for our children to grow upon. Children learn what they live, not what they are told to live. We are giving our children the best gift they could ever possess. . .the gift of faith---an "attitude of gratitude"--- and the comfort of knowing that, even in darkest of times, they are never truly alone.
