Families must be registered members of Holy Trinity Parish in order to enroll in Sacramental Preparation programs.
Parental Expectations
Parents/guardians of those participating in Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation preparation are asked to do the following:
1. Attend Sunday Mass on a regular basis with their child(ren)
2. Believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
3. Pray as a family.
4. Discuss the liturgy, Church, and catechetical lessons with their child(ren).
5. Attend parent/child sessions, Sacramental sessions, and/or Reconciliation & Eucharist retreats.
Sacramental Sessions and Retreats
All parents/guardians of children preparing for Baptism should contact Fr. Anthony Barratt directly.
Preparation for reception of either First Eucharist, First Reconciliation or the Sacrament of Confirmation is a two-year process. Regardless of age or school grade, children entering our program will attend religious instruction for one full year prior to being prepared for reception of the Sacraments.
Parents of students in the Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation programs are expected to attend the parent meetings as scheduled. These sessions are important because they will explain the connections between Baptism, Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation. Your awareness of these connections will help prepare your child for the Sacraments. Parents and students preparing for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are expected to attend the Children’s Reconciliaton Retreat in the fall and the Eucharist retreat (Jesus Day) in the early Spring.
Candidates for Confirmation are expected to attend the Confirmation Retreat weekend or an acceptable alternative retreat experience, as mandated by our Bishop.
